Summary
BrowserCompress processes files entirely inside your browser, so file contents and file names are never transmitted to our servers. We collect limited website usage and technical log data, including IP addresses, to operate, secure and improve the service.
Files and Documents
All file processing (image compression, PDF compression, format conversion) is performed using browser-native APIs (Canvas API, FileReader API) and WebAssembly modules that execute on your local device. No file content, metadata, or file names are transmitted to any server at any time. You can verify this using your browser's developer tools: open the Network tab and observe that no file upload requests are made during compression.
Analytics
We record page visits, clicks and tool operations such as compression start, completion, failure, selected settings, file type, file size, processing duration and downloads. We also record the IP address visible to our server, an IP-derived visitor hash, country code when supplied by our hosting platform, browser user agent, device platform, language, referrer, session identifier and event time. This data is used for traffic statistics, troubleshooting, abuse prevention and product improvement. It is not linked to file content or file names and is not sold to third parties.
Cookies
BrowserCompress does not use tracking cookies. We may use functional cookies to remember user preferences (such as quality settings) if you opt in. These cookies never leave your browser and are not shared with third parties.
Third-Party Services
Our website is hosted on a CDN. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL) may be retained by our hosting provider in accordance with their privacy policy for security and abuse prevention purposes.
GDPR Compliance
File processing remains local and is not part of our server-side analytics. Technical logs, including IP addresses, may qualify as personal data under applicable law. We process this limited data for legitimate operational, security and service-improvement purposes. You may contact us with questions or requests concerning these logs.
